하나님의 선택을 봄

성경말씀

(롬9:11) 쌍둥이가 아직 태어나지도 않았고 또 무슨 선이나 악을 행하지도 않았는데(사람을 선택하시는 하나님의 목적이 사람의 행위에 있지 않고 부르시는 분께 있다는 것을 확고히 하시려고),
(13) 성경에 "내가 야곱은 사랑하였고, 에서는 미워하였다."라고 기록된 것과 같습니다.

오늘의 만나

야곱과 에서는 (이삭과 이스마엘이 가까운 것보다는) 더 가까웠으며 그들은 쌍둥이였습니다. 야곱은 “강탈하는 사람”을 의미합니다. 그는 다른 사람에게서 강탈했으며, 그들을 자기 아래 두고 그들 위로 올라섰습니다. 그와 그의 형 에서가 모태에서 나올 때, 야곱은 에서의 발뒤꿈치를 붙잡았습니다. 야곱이라는 이름의 의미는 “발뒤꿈치를 붙잡는 사람”, “빼앗는 사람”입니다. ‘다른 이들을 넘어뜨리라, 어떤 속임수를 쓰든 그들을 네 발아래 두라.’ 이것이 야곱입니다. 하나님께서 이미 야곱을 선택하셨기 때문에 그의 모든 노력은 헛되었습니다. 야곱에게는 이상(異象:vision)이 필요했습니다. 그는 다른 사람의 것을 빼앗을 필요가 없었는데, 이는 하나님께서 그가 첫째가 되도록 선택하셨기 때문입니다. 불행히도 야곱은 이것을 깨닫지 못했습니다. 만일 그가 깨달았더라면 그는 어떤 것도 하려고 하지 않았을 것입니다. 그에게는 하나님의 다루심이 필요했습니다. 그러므로 하나님은 그를 다루시기 위해 그의 형 에서와 그의 외삼촌 라반을 일으키셨습니다. 하나님은 심지어 네 명의 아내에 더해 열두 명의 남자 조력자들과 한 명의 여자 조력자를 일으키셨습니다. 야곱의 생애에는 엄청난 고난이 있었지만 이 고난은 자신의 분투로 인한 것이지 하나님의 선택으로부터 온 것이 아니었습니다. 야곱이 분투하면 분투할수록 그는 더욱더 고난을 겪었습니다. 우리는 야곱을 비웃을지 모르지만, 우리도 그와 아주 똑같습니다. 우리가 무엇을 하려고 애쓰면 애쓸수록 우리게 더 많은 문제가 생깁니다. Romans 9:11 Though the children had not yet been born nor had done anything good or bad (that the purpose of God according to selection might remain, not of works but of Him who calls); (13) As it is written, “Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”

Words of Ministry

Jacob and Esau were more intimate [than were Isaac and Ishmael]; they were twins. Jacob means a superseder. He supersedes others, puts them under him, and climbs above them. When he and his older brother Esau were coming out of the womb, Jacob held Esau's heel. The meaning of the name Jacob is the heel-holder, the supplanter. Beat others down. Put them under your feet by any deceitful means. That is Jacob. Because God had already chosen Jacob, all his endeavors were in vain. Jacob needed a vision. He did not need to supplant others, because God had chosen him to be number one. Unfortunately, Jacob did not realize this. If he had, he never would have tried to do anything. He needed God's dealing. Hence, God raised up his brother, Esau, and then his uncle, Laban, to deal with him. God even raised up four wives plus twelve male helpers and a female helper. There was a great deal of suffering in the life of Jacob, but this suffering came from his striving, not from God's election. The more Jacob strove, the more he suffered. We may laugh at Jacob, but we are exactly the same as he. The more we try to do something, the more problems we have.
