규례들로 된 계명을 없애 버리심(2)

성경말씀

(엡4:22) 여러분은 지난날의 생활 방식을 따르는 옛사람, 곧 그 속이는 것의 욕정에 따라 썩어 없어져 가는 옛사람을 벗어 버린 것이며,
(골3:10~11) 새사람을 입었기 때문입니다. 이 새사람은 자기를 창조하신 분의 형상에 따라 온전한 지식에 이르도록 새로워지고 있습니다. 거기에는 헬라인과 유대인이나, 할례자와 무할례자나, 야만인이나, 수구디아인이나, 노예나, 자유인이 없습니다. 오직 그리스도께서 모든 것이시며 모든 것 안에 계십니다.

오늘의 만나

비록 우리가 어떤 실행을 좋아한다 할지라도 그것들을 강력히 주장해서는 안 됩니다. 만일 우리가 특별한 실행을 강력히 주장한다면, 우리는 그것을 나뉘게 하고 적대감을 일으키는 규례로 만드는 것입니다. 그리스도인들은 침례에 관한 다양한 규례들과 같은 규례들에 의해 나뉘어져 왔습니다. 어떤 이들은 뒤로 침례 받아야 한다고 강력히 주장하며, 다른 이들은 앞으로 침례 받아야 한다고 강력히 주장합니다. 어떤 그리스도인들은 악기를 사용하는 것으로 나누어지기도 합니다. 어떤 이들은 피아노을 인정하지만 오르간은 인정하지 않습니다. 그러나 다른 이들의 실행은 그 반대입니다. 비록 나는 집회에서 크게 외치고 큰소리로 찬양하는 것을 감상하지만, 그런 것들을 강력히 주장하지는 않습니다. 어떤 실행을 강력히 주장하는 것은 분열을 야기시킵니다. 그러므로 우리에게 어떤 규례가 있어서는 안 됩니다. 그리스도의 십자가에서 모든 규례들은 없어졌습니다. 서로 가까이 지내던 사람들 가운데에서도 규례는 증오의 원인이 될 수 있습니다. 두 형제가 수 년 동안 유쾌한 교통을 누려왔더라도, 단지 한 사람은 크게 소리치는 것을 주장하고 다른 사람은 조용히 있는 것을 주장하여 그 둘 사이에 적대감이 생길 수도 있습니다. 서로를 사랑하는 대신에 서로를 미워하게 될 것입니다. 종교적인 질투는 끔찍한 것입니다. 역사가 우리에게 말해주듯이 교활한 살인자 사탄으로 말미암은 종교적인 질투로 인하여 수많은 사람들이 학살당했습니다. 그러므로 그 실행이 죄를 짓거나 부도덕한 것이거나 우상숭배가 아니라면, 우리는 모든 규례들을 거부하고 성도들(믿는 이들)의 실행에 함께 해야 합니다. Although we may like certain practices, we should not insist on them. If we insist on a particular practice, we make it an ordinance that separates and creates enmity. Christians have been divided by ordinances, such as the various ordinances concerning baptism. Some insist upon baptizing backwards; others insist on doing it forwards. Some Christians are divided over the use of musical instruments. Some permit a piano, but not an organ; the practice of others, however, is the opposite... Although I appreciate shouting and loud praises in the meetings, I am not for these things. To insist on any practice is to cause division. Hence, we must not have any ordinances. On the cross of Christ all ordinances were abolished. It is possible for ordinances to become a cause of hatred even among those who have been close to one another. Two brothers may have enjoyed pleasant fellowship for a number of years, but simply because one is for shouting and the other is for being silent, there may be enmity between them. Instead of loving each other, they may come to hate each other. Religious jealousy is a terrible thing. History tells us that many have been slain because of it through the subtlety of Satan, the murderer. Therefore, we must repudiate all ordinances and go along with the practices of the saints [believers], as long as these practices do not involve anything sinful, immoral, or idolatrous...
