신성과 인성을 모두 가진 교회

성경말씀

(엡1:22~23) 만물을 그리스도의 발아래 복종시키시고, 그리스도를 만물 위의 머리가 되게 하시어 교회에게 주셨습니다. 교회는 그리스도의 몸이요, 만물 안에서 만물을 충만하게 하시는 분의 충만입니다.
(2:1) 그런데 여러분은 허물과 죄들 가운데서 죽어 있었습니다.

오늘의 만나

에베소서 2장 1절은 "그런데 여러분은 허물과 죄들 가운데서 죽어 있었습니다."라고 말합니다. 문법적으로 "그런데"는 에베소서 1장의 마지막 문장이 완성되지 않았음을 가리킵니다. 1장의 마지막 구절은 그리스도의 몸인 교회가 그분께서 도달하신 것을 통하여 그리스도에 의해 산출되었음을 계시합니다. 이제 에베소서 2장은 교회가 산출된 배경인 죽음의 영역을 밝힙니다. 1장에서 사도 바울은 많은 탁월한 것들을 말합니다. 그는 교회가 승천하신 그리스도의 놀라운 전달로 말미암아 존재하게 되었다고 말합니다. 1장에서 바울은 그리스도와 그 능력에 대해 언급합니다. 그 능력은 그리스도 안에서 운행하시어 그분을 죽은 사람들 가운데서 일으키시고,그분을 만물 위의 하늘들의 영역 안에 앉히시고, 만물을 그분의 발아래 복종하게 하시고, 그분을 만물 위의 머리가 되게 하시어 교회에게 주셨는데, 교회는 만물 안에서 만물을 충만하게 하시는 분의 충만인 그분의 몸입니다. 그러나 우리가 지적한 바와 같이 교회는 또 다른 면이 있습니다. 그리스도의 방면이 있으며, 또한 우리 자신의 방면이 있습니다. 그러므로 2장 1절에서 바울은 "그런데 여러분은"이라고 말합니다. 교회는 신성의 방면이 있을 뿐 아니라, 인성의방면도 있습니다. 1장에서 우리는 교회가 우리에게 전달된 신성의 산출이라는 것을 보았습니다. 2장에서 우리는 교회가 인성으로부터 산출된 것임을 봅니다. 2장 1절의 "그런데"라는 접속사는 교회의 이 두 방면을 함께 두는데 있어서 아주 중요합니다. Ephesians 2:1 says, “And you, being dead in your offenses and sins.” According togrammar, “and” indicates that the last sentence of chapter one is not completed.The last verse of chapter one reveals that the church, the Body of Christ, hasbeen produced by Christ through His attainment. Now chapter two unveils thebackground, the realm of death, from which the church has been brought forth.In chapter one the Apostle Paul speaks many excellent things. He says that thechurch comes into being through the wonderful transmission of the ascendedChrist. In chapter one Paul talks about Christ and the power that operated inChrist in raising Him from the dead, in seating Him in the heavenlies far aboveall, in subjecting all things under His feet, and in giving Him to be the Head overall things to the church, which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all inall. But as we have pointed out, there is another side to the church. There is theside of Christ, and there is also the side of ourselves. Therefore, in 2:1 Paul says,“And you.” The church has not only the aspect of divinity, but also the aspect ofhumanity. In chapter one we see that the church is the issue of divinitytransmitted into us. In chapter two we see that the church comes out of humanity.The conjunction “and” at the beginning of 2:1 is significant in bringing togetherthese two aspects of the church.
