종교적인 규례들로부터 자유하고 안식함

(마12:1~2) 그때에 예수님께서 안식일에 밀밭 사이를 지나가시는데, 제자들이 배가 고파 이삭을 잘라 먹기 시작하였다. 바리새인들이 보고 예수님께 "보십시오, 선생님의 제자들이 안식일에 해서는 안 되는 일을 하고 있습니다."라고 하니,

오늘의 만나

마태복음 12장 1절의 "그 때에"는 12장을 11장에 연결시킵니다. 주님은 사람들을 불러서 율법과 종교적인 규정들을 지키려고 노력하는 데서 안식하게 했을 당시, 그분은 안식일에 밀밭 사이로 가셨고 그분의 제자들이 이삭을 잘라 먹었는데, 그것은 안식일을 범하는 것처럼 보였습니다. 그때에 그분의 모든 제자들은 매우 배고팠습니다. 우리가 배고플 때는 언제나 안식이 없습니다. 안식은 만족을 포함합니다. 여러분이 만족할 때 여러분은 안식합니다. 그러나 만일 여러분이 만족하지 않는다면 여러분은 안식을 갖지 못할 것입니다. 주님은 그분의 제자들이 배고프다는 것을 아셨지만 그날이 안식일이었기 때문에 먹을 것을 구하기가 어려웠습니다. 그들은 어떤 것을 살 수도 없었고, 어떤 것을 할 수도 없었고, 어디론가 갈 수도 없었습니다. 제자들은 이렇게 말할 수 있었을 것입니다. "주 예수님! 우리는 어떻게 해야 합니까? 당신은 우리를 당신의 안식 안으로 부르셨지만 우리는 배고프고 먹을 것을 구할 길이 없는 것 같습니다. 우리가 이렇게 배고픈데 어떻게 안식할 수 있습니까?" 제자들은 안식일의 규례를 지키는 짐을 지고 있었습니다. 이러한 규례들은 배고픈 제자들에게 무거운 짐이 되었습니다. 따라서 주 예수님은 규례를 지키는 상황에서 밀밭으로 그분의 제자들을 인도하심으로 이러한 규례들을 지키지 않는 데 앞장섰습니다. 이렇게 행하시는 주님의 의도는 제자들을 안식일을 지키는 규례로부터 해방시키는 것이었습니다. 그들이 밀밭으로 갔을 때 모든 이들이 짐으로부터 해방되었으며 만족했습니다. Having Rest by Being Freed from Religious Regulations

Matthew 12:1 At that time Jesus went on the Sabbath through the grainfields. And His disciples became hungry and began to pick ears of grain and eat. (2) But the Pharisees, seeing this, said to Him, Behold, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.

Words of Ministry

“At that time” [in verse above] joins chapter twelve to chapter eleven. At the time the Lord called people to rest from striving to keep the law and religious regulations, He went on the Sabbath through the grain fields, and His disciples began to pick the ears and to eat, seemingly breaking the Sabbath. At that time, all His disciples were hungry. Whenever we are hungry, we do not have rest. Rest includes satisfaction. When you are satisfied, you are at rest. But if you do not have satisfaction, you do not have rest. He knew that His disciples were hungry and that, because it was the Sabbath, it was difficult to find something to eat. They could not buy anything, do anything, or go anywhere. The disciples could have said, "Lord Jesus, what shall we do? You have called us to come to You for rest; but we are hungry, and there seems to be no way for us to get anything to eat. How can we rest when we have such hunger?" The disciples were under the burden of keeping the Sabbath regulations. These regulations had become a heavy burden to the hungry disciples. Thus, the Lord Jesus took the lead not to keep these regulations by bringing His disciples out of a regulation-keeping situation into the grain fields. The Lord's intention in doing this was to free the disciples from the Sabbath-keeping regulations. When they came into the grain fields, everyone was freed from this burden and was satisfied.
