교회가 영광스러워짐

성경말씀

(엡5:27) 또한 점이나 주름이나 그 같은 것들이 없는, 영광스러운 교회로 자기 앞에 세우시려는 것이며, 교회를 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하시려는 것입니다. 
(골1:27) ...이 비밀은 여러분 안에 계신 그리스도인데, 곧 영광의 소망입니다.

오늘의 만나

우리는 그리스도께서 어떻게 교회를 자기 앞에 영광스러운 교회로 세우시는지를 살펴볼 필요가 있습니다. 어렸을 때 나는 그리스도는 다만 하늘에 계시고 교회는 땅 위에 있다고 생각했습니다. 이러한 관념에 따르면 그리스도는 멀리 하늘에 계시고 우리는 땅 위에서 그분께 드려질 준비를 하고 있는 것이었습니다. 그러나 후에 나는 이것이 그리스도를 너무나 객관적으로 만드는 천연적인 관념이라는 것을 깨달았습니다. 하나님은 그분의 경륜 안에서 그리스도를 우리 안으로 역사하고 계십니다. 결국 그리스도는 단지 객관적으로 오신 것에 의해서가 아니라 먼저 우리 안에서 확장되시고, 그리고 우리 안으로부터 표현되심으로써 자기 앞에 영광스러운 교회를 세우실 것입니다. 종교적인 관념과는 반대로 우리가 영화롭게 되는 것은 갑작스러운 사건이 아닐 것입니다. 오히려 그것은 그리스도께서 우리 안에서 확장되고 우리를 그분 자신으로 적셔주심으로 말미암아 점진적으로 일어날 것입니다. 그리스도는 우리를 조금씩 "먹어 들어감"에 따라 우리를 영화롭게 하십니다. 우리는 모두 우리 안의 영광이신 그리스도에 의해 먹혀지고 삼켜진 바 되어야 합니다. 우리 안에는 우리의 생명과 인격이실 뿐 아니라 바로 하나님의 영광이신 그리스도도 계십니다. 우리는 보기흉한 애벌레가 아름다운 나비로 변태되는 것을 영화롭게 하심을 설명하기 위한 비유로 사용할 수 있습니다. 애벌레는 갑자기 아래로 내려와 덮어씌우는 아름다움에 의해 순간적으로 나비로 변화되는 것이 아닙니다. 그렇지 않습니다. 나비의 아름다움은 애벌레의 생명 안에 담겨 있습니다. 그 생명의 율이 애벌레 속에서 기능을 발휘할 때 그 애벌레는 점진적으로 나비로 변화됩니다. 이 과정이 일어날 때 나비의 아름다움이 애벌레의 흉한 것들을 삼켜버릴 것입니다. How Does the Church Become Glorious?

We need to consider how Christ will present the church to Himself as a glorious church. When I was young, I thought that Christ was merely in the heavens and that the church was on earth. According to this concept, Christ is far away in the heavens, and we on earth are making ourselves ready to be presented to Him. I realized later, however, that this is a natural concept that makes Christ too objective.... In His economy, God is working Christ into us. Eventually, Christ will present the glorious church to Himself not by coming merely in an objective way, but by expanding within us and then by coming out of us. Contrary to the religious concept, our glorification will not be a sudden event. Rather, it will take place gradually as Christ expands within us and saturates us with Himself. Christ glorifies us as He “eats us up” little by little. We all need to be eaten, devoured, swallowed up, by Christ as the glory within us. Within us we have Christ not only as our life and our person, but also as the very glory of God. We may use the metamorphosis of an ugly caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly as an illustration of glorification. A caterpillar is not instantaneously transformed into a butterfly by a beauty that suddenly descends upon it and envelops it. No, the beauty of the butterfly is contained within the life of the caterpillar. As the law of this life functions within the caterpillar, the caterpillar is gradually transformed into a butterfly. As this process takes place, the beauty of the butterfly swallows up the ugliness of the caterpillar.
