하나님을 알고자 하지 않음

성경말씀

(엡4:17~18) 그러므로 내가 이것을 말하며 주님 안에서 증언합니다. 이제부터 여러분은 이방인들이 헛된 생각을 따라 행하는 것처럼 행하지 마십시오. 그들은 이해력이 어두워져 있으며, 그들 속에 무지가 있고 마음이 굳어져 있기 때문에 하나님의 생명에서 떠나 있습니다.

오늘의 만나

하나님의 생명에서 떠나 있게 된 하나의 이유는 "그들 속에 있는 무지함" 때문입니다. 무지함이란 지식의 결핍 뿐 아니라 알기를 원치 않는 것도 의미합니다. 타락한 사람은 마음이 굳어졌기 때문에 하나님께 속한 것들을 알기 싫어합니다(롬1:28). 이로 인해 그의 이해력이 어두워져서 하나님을 알 수 없습니다. 불신자들은 하나님이나 영적인 것들에 대한 지식이 없습니다. 더욱이 그들은 이런 지식을 얻으려고 하지도 않습니다. 우리가 합당한 지식을 가졌을 뿐 아니라 알기를 갈망하고 있다는 것이 얼마나 큰 긍휼인지요! 우리 안에 하나님과 생명과 영적인 것들을 알려하는 갈망이 있다는 것은 축복입니다. 구원받기 전에는 이런 갈망이 없었고, 하나님에 대한 지식이나 알고자 하는 마음도 다 없었습니다. 그러나 이제 하나님을 알기 위해 굶주리고 목마릅니다. 우리가 그분과 신성한 생명을 더욱 알수록 굶주림과 갈증도 더하게 됩니다. 주님을 알려고 추구하지 않는 어떤 그리스도인도 행복하거나 만족될 수 없습니다. 주님을 추구하고 생명과 하나님께 속한 것들을 알고자 추구하는 것이 커다란 행복의 근원입니다. 우리가 교회집회 안에서 즐거워하는 것은 이 때문입니다. Fallen People Have No Desire to Know God

Ephesians 4:17 ...that you no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk in the vanity of their mind, (18) Being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance which is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;

Words of Ministry

One reason for this alienation “from the life of God” is “the ignorance which is in them”. Ignorance here means not only lack of knowledge, but also not wanting to know. Fallen man does not approve of knowing the things of God (Rom. 1:28) because of the hardness of his heart. Due to this, his understanding is darkened that he cannot know God. The unbelievers have no knowledge of God or of spiritual things. Furthermore, they are not willing to gain this knowledge. What a mercy that we not only have the proper knowledge, but also have the desire to know! It is a great blessing to have within us the desire to know God, to know life, and to know spiritual things. Before we were saved, we did not have this desire. We, like the nations, lacked both the knowledge and the willingness to know. But now we hunger and thirst to know God. The more we can know of Him and of the divine life, the better it is. Any Christian who does not seek to know the Lord cannot be happy or satisfied. To seek the Lord and to seek to know life and the things of God is a source of great happiness. This is the reason we are so happy in the church meetings.
