진리 이만나

우리를 극도로 사랑하심

성경말씀

(요13:1) 유월절 전에, 예수님은 이 세상을 떠나셔서 아버지께로 가셔야 할 자기의 때가 온 것을 아시고, 세상에 있는 자기 사람들을 사랑하시기를 끝까지 사랑하셨다. 
(3~5) 예수님은 아버지께서 모든 것을 자기 손에 맡기신 것과 자기가 하나님에게서 왔다가 하나님께로 갈 것을 아시고 저녁 식사 자리에서 일어나시어 겉옷을 벗어 놓으시고, 수건을 가져다가 직접 허리에 동여매셨다. 예수님께서 대야에 물을 부으신 후, 제자들의 발을 씻어 주시고, 허리에 동여매신 수건으로 닦아 주시기 시작하셨다.

오늘의 만나

우리는 요한복음에서 언급된 모든 것은 무언가 더 깊고 영적인 것을 지시하는 표징임을 보았습니다. 그러므로 발을 씻는 것도 역시 무언가 깊고 영적인 것을 상징하는 표징인 것입니다. 요한복음 13장 1절은 "세상에 있는 자기 사람들을 사랑하시기를 끝까지 사랑하셨다"라고 말합니다. 이 사랑으로 인해 주님은 제자들의 발을 씻어 주셨습니다. 그러므로 발을 씻어주는 것은 극진히 사랑하는 사랑의 문제입니다. 이것이 없다면 우리에 대한 주님의 사랑은 극진하지 못했을 것이고 우리의 필요에 미치지 못했을 것입니다. 이것은 발을 씻어주는 것의 중요성을 보여줍니다. 아버지께서 그 제자들을 주셨으므로 주님은 하나님을 그들 안으로 이끄셨지만, 이제 그분은 그들을 떠나시려고 하고 있습니다. 그분이 하나님께로부터 오셔서 하나님을 그들 안으로 이끄심으로써 제자들과 하나님과의 그분 안에서의 관계가 생겨났습니다. 이제 그분은 그들을 떠나시려고 합니다. 그분이 그들을 떠나시고 난 뒤에는 어떻게 제자들과 하나님 사이의 이런 관계가 계속 유지될 수 있겠습니까? 그것은 바로 발을 씻음으로써 유지됩니다. 발을 씻는 것이란 하나님과 사람 사이의 관계에 있는 교통을 저해하는 모든 먼지를 발에서 씻어내는 것입니다. 그렇게 하심으로써 주님은 그분 안에 있는 하나님과 제자들의 관계를 계속 유지할 수 있는 방법을 보여주셨습니다. Loving Us to the Uttermost

John 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that His hour had come for Him to depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the uttermost. (3) Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all into His hands and that He had come forth from God and was going to God, (4) Rose from supper and laid aside His outer garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself; (5) Then He poured water into the basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Words of Ministry

As we have seen, everything mentioned in this gospel is a sign that indicates something deeper and spiritual. Therefore, foot washing is also a sign signifying something deeper and spiritual. Verse 1 says “He loved them to the uttermost.” Because of this love, the Lord washed the disciples' feet. Hence, the foot washing is a matter of love, a love to the uttermost. Without this, the Lord's love toward us would not have been to the uttermost but would have fallen short of our need. This shows the importance of foot washing. The Father had given the disciples, and the Lord had brought God into them, but now He was going to leave them. By His coming forth from God and His bringing God into them, a relationship between the disciples and God in Him came into existence. Now He was going to leave them. After He had left them, how could this relationship between the disciples and God be maintained? It is to be maintained by the foot washing. Foot washing is to wash away from the feet all the dirt that frustrates the fellowship of the relationship between God and man. In doing it, the Lord showed His disciples the way for them to maintain their relationship with God in Him.
