다가올 심판을 위해 회개함

성경말씀

(행17:30~31) 알지 못하던 시대에는 하나님께서 지나쳐 가셨지만, 이제는 어디서나 모든 사람에게 회개하라고 명령하십니다. 왜냐하면 하나님께서 지명하신 사람을 통하여 의로 세상을 심판하실 날을 정하시고, 그분을 죽은 사람들 가운데서 다시 살리심으로, 모든 사람에게 믿을 만한 증거를 주셨기 때문입니다.

오늘의 만나

그리스도께서 땅을 심판하는 이 날은 그분이 다시 오심으로 있게 될 것입니다. 그분은 이 심판을 집행하도록 하나님에 의해 정해졌으며, 하나님께서 죽은자들 가운데서 그분을 일으키신 것은 이것에 대한 강한 증거입니다. 사도행전 17장에 있는 바울의 전파는 확실히 아덴에 있는 헬라인의 상황에 적합합니다. 바울의 말 중 많은 부분이 에비구레오 철학자들을 향한 것이었습니다. 에비구레오 철학자들은 창조자와 공급하는자가 없다고 말했습니다. 그들은 미래에 대한 고려없이 감각적인 즐거움을 추구해야 한다고 주장했습니다. 바울이 "죽은자가 다시 살지 못할 것이며 내일 죽을 터이니 먹고 마시자 하리라(고전15: 32)"고 말할 때, 그의 마음 안에는 에비구레오 철학자들이 있었던 것 같습니다. 부활이 없다면 우리 믿는이들은 장래의 소망이 없을 것이며, 모든 사람 가운데 가장 불쌍한 자가 될 것입니다(고전15:19). 만일 그렇다면 우리는 에비구레오 철학자들과 같이 장래를 잊고, 오늘 우리의 삶을 즐기는 편이 나을 것입 니다. 사도행전 17장에 있는 그의 전파에서 바울은 마치 에비구레오 철학자들에게 이렇게 말하는 것 같습니다. "창조자는 계시며 그분은 생명과 호흡과 만물을 주시는 공급자이십니다. 여러분은 그분께로서 산출되었으며 여러분의 사람의 생명은 그분께로서 나왔기 때문에 여러분은 하나님의 소생입니다. 여러분은 사람의 생명을 소유했기 때문에 그분 안에서 살고 움직이고 존재합니다. 여러분은 또한 장래에 심판이 있음을 알 필요가 있습니다. 이 장래의 심판은 사람이신 예수님의 부활과 관계됩니다. 하나님은 모든 사람의 심판자로서 예수님을 정하셨으며 그분은 예수님을 죽은자들 가운데서 일으키심으로써 이를 증명하셨습니다. 과거에 하나님께서는 여러분 자신의 길을 가도록 허락하셨습니다. 그러나 그분은 여러분이 지금 회개해야 한다고 말씀하시기 위해 나를 여기에 보내셨습니다." Repent for the Coming Judgment

Acts 17:30~31 Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now charges all men everywhere to repent, Because He has set a day in which He is to judge the world in righteousness by the man whom He has designated, having furnished proof to all by raising Him from the dead.

Words of Ministry

This day of Christ's judgment on earth will be brought in by His coming back. He has been designated by God to execute this judgment, and God's raising Him from among the dead is strong proof of this. Paul's preaching in Acts 17 surely fit the situation of the Greeks in Athens. Much of what Paul said was directed at the Epicureans... The Epicureans say that there is no Creator or Provider. They also claim that we should pursue sensuous pleasures without regard for the future. It is likely that Paul had the Epicureans in mind when he said, "If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die" (1 Cor. 15:32). If there is no resurrection, we the believers shall have no hope in the future and become the most miserable of all men (1 Cor. 15:19). If so, we had better enjoy our life today, forgetting the future, like the Epicureans. In his preaching in Acts 17 Paul seemed to be saying to the Epicureans, "There is a Creator, and He is the Provider who gives to all life, breath, and all things. You are God's offspring, for you were produced of Him and derive your human life from Him. Because you have a human life, you live, move, and have your being in Him. You also need to know that there will be a judgment in the future. This future judgment is related to the resurrection of the Man Jesus. God has designated Jesus to be the One to judge everyone, and He has furnished proof of this by raising Him from among the dead. In the past God allowed you to go your own way. But He has sent me here to tell you that you now need to repent."
