우리의 영광과 기쁨

성경말씀

(살전2:19~20) 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 오실 때, 그분 앞에서 우리의 소망이나 기쁨이나 자랑의 면류관이 무엇이겠습니까? 바로 여러분이 아니겠습니까? 여러분이 우리의 영광이요, 기쁨입니다. 
(빌4:1) 그러므로 내가 사랑하고 그리워하는 형제님들, 나의 기쁨이요 면류관인 사랑하는 여러분, 이와 같이 주님 안에 굳게 서십시오.

오늘의 만나

데살로니가전서 2장 20절은 사도들이 믿는이들의 유모이고, 권면하는 아버지이기 때문에(7,11절) 그들의 자녀인 믿는이들은 그들의 영광과 기쁨이었다고 지적합니다. 그들을 떠나서는 사도들에게 소망이나 영광이나 자랑의 면류관이 없었습니다. 여기에서 바울은 이렇게 말하는 것 같습니다. "여러분은 우리의 소망이요, 우리의 기쁨이며 자랑의 면류관입니다. 형제들이여, 우리는 오직 여러분을 위하여 여기에 있습니다. 우리는 여기에서 다른 아무 것도 위하지 않습니다. 만일 우리에게 여러분이 없다면 우리에게는 아무 것도 없는 것입니다. 여러분은 우리의 소망이며 여러분의 소망은 바로 주님의 다시 오심입니다. 여러분이 없다면 주님이 다시 오실 때 우리에게 기쁨이나 영광이 부족할 것입니다. 우리에게는 여러분이 필요합니다. 여러분은 우리의 소망이요 기쁨이요 면류관이며, 그분이 다시 오실 때 주 예수님 앞에 우리의 영광입니다." 다시 한번 바울은 그의 자녀들을 돌보는 것에 있어서 깊은 감정을 표현했습니다. 그는 실로 그의 자녀들을 권면하는 아버지였습니다. 부모로부터 나오는 이같은 말은 깊은 곳을 만집니다. 그것은 자녀들의 마음을 만집니다. 이러한 말씀은 자녀들을 양육하며 그들을 성장하도록 돕습니다. 좋은 아버지로서 바울은 자녀들의 마음을 만지는 법을 알고 있었습니다. 만일 여러분이 다른이들의 마음을 만질 수 있다면 여러분은 그들을 성장하도록 양육하는데 성공할 것입니다. 다른이들을 양육하는 가장 좋은 길은 그들의 마음을 깊이 만지는 것입니다. Our Glory and Joy

1 Thes. 2:19~20 For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at His coming? Are not even you? For you are our glory and joy. Phil 4:1 So then, my brothers, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, in the same way stand firm in the Lord, beloved.

Words of Ministry

Verse 20 indicates that since the apostles were the believers' nursing mother and exhorting father (vv. 7, 11), the believers, as their children, were their glory and joy. Apart from them, the apostles had no hope, glory, or crown of boasting. Here Paul seems to be saying, "You are our hope, our joy, and our crown of boasting. Brothers, we are here only for you; we are not here for anything else. If we do not have you, we do not have anything. You are our hope, even as your hope is the Lord's coming back. Without you, at the Lord's coming back we shall be short of joy and glory. We need you! You are our hope, our joy, our crown, and our glory before the Lord Jesus at His coming." Once again Paul expressed deep emotion in caring for his children. He certainly was a father exhorting his children. Such a word from parents is deeply touching; it touches the heart of the children. This kind of speaking fosters children and helps them to grow. As a good father, Paul knew how to touch the heart of his children. If you are able to touch the heart of others, you will be successful in fostering their growth. The best way to foster others is to touch their heart deeply.
