몸 안에서 섬기는 본

(행6:1) 그 무렵 제자들의 수가 점점 늘어나게 되면서, 헬라어를 사용하는 유대인들이 히브리어를 사용하는 본토 유대인들에게 불평하였다. 왜냐하면 매일의 구제에서 자기네 과부들이 소홀히 여겨졌기 때문이다.

오늘의 만나

사도들은 무리에게 말하여 그들 중에 칭찬받는 사람 일곱을 택하여 음식 봉사를 맡기도록 하였습니다. 이 일곱 명은 음식 봉사를 하기 위해 선택하였기 때문에 바울과 그의 동역자들이 후에 교회들 가운데서 임명했던 바와 같이 집사들로 여겨질 수 있습니다(롬16:1, 빌 1:1 딤전 3:8). 집사로 선택된 일곱 명 중에 스데반과 빌립은 특별한 은사가 있었습니다. 사도행전 7장에서 스데반이 말한 걸로 보아 우리가 깨달을 수 있는 것은 그가 뛰어난 교사였다는 것입니다. 그의 긴 말은 그가 하나님의 말씀에 지식이 많았다는 것을 가리킵니다. 스데반의 가르침은 풍성하고, 능력 있고, 의미가 가득하였습니다. 빌립 또한 특별한 은사가 있었는데, 그는 결국은 뛰어난 복음 전파자임이 드러났습니다. 비록 스데반과 빌립에게 특별한 은사가 있었지만 그들이 음식 봉사를 하도록 선택되었을 때, 그들은 기꺼이 섬겼습니다. 여기서 우리는 좋은 예를 봅니다. 특별한 은사가 있는 사람들은 음식 봉사를 기꺼이 여기지 않을 수 있습니다. 예를 들면, 어떤 형제가 뛰어난 교사라고 해봅시다. 만일 그가 집사로서 음식 봉사를 하도록 안배되었다면, 그는 기뻐하지 않으며 다음과 같이 말할 것입니다. A Pattern of Serving in the Body

Acts6:1 And in these days, as the disciples were multiplying in number, a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews occurred, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily dispensing. (3) But brothers, look for seven well- attested men from among you, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint over this need.

Words of Ministry

The apostles told the multitude to select seven well-attested men from among them to be appointed over the need [of serving tables]. Since these seven were chosen to serve tables, they may be considered deacons, just as those whom Paul and his co- workers appointed later in the churches (Rom. 16:1; Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:8). Of the seven who were selected as deacons, two--Stephen and Philip--had particular gifts. From Stephen's speaking in chapter seven we can realize that he was a great teacher. His long speech indicates that he was knowledgeable in God's Word. Stephen's teaching was rich, powerful, and full of significance. Philip also had a particular gift, and he was eventually manifested to be a great evangelist. Although Stephen and Philip had particular gifts, when they were selected to serve tables, they willingly served. Here we have a good example. Some who have particular gifts may not be willing to serve tables. For example, suppose a certain brother is an excellent teacher. If he is selected to serve as a deacon, he may be unhappy and say, "Don't you realize that I am a teacher of the Word? Why do you ask me to serve as a deacon?" But from the example of Stephen and Philip we see that no matter what kind of particular gift we may have, if we are selected to serve tables, we should be willing to serve. When we are asked to serve, even if it is to clean the restroom, we should serve willingly. Instead of murmuring, Stephen and Philip did a good job in serving tables.
