오늘의 만나

어떤 사람은 창조가 시작될 때 그리스도께서 태어나신 것이 아니고 겨우 이천 년 전에 태어나셨는데, 어떻게 모든 창조물 가운데 가장 먼저 나신 분이 될 수 있는지 의문을 품습니다. 우리가 이것을 합리적으로 이해하려면, 하나님에게는 시간적 요소가 없으시다는 것을 깨달아야 합니다. 그 예로 우리의 시간 계산에 따르면 그리스도는 약 이천 년 전에 못 박히셨습니다. 그러나 요한계시록 13장 8절에서는 그리스도가 창세로부터 죽임을 당했다고 말합니다. 둘다 옳습니다. 그러나 하나님의 계산이 우리의 계산보다 훨씬 더 중요합니다. 하나님은 영원 전에 사람의 타락을 미리 아셨으므로 영원 전에 구속의 성취를 예비하셨습니다. 우리의 시간 감각에 의하면 그리스도께서는 약 이천 년 전에 베들레헴에서 나셨으나, 하나님의 눈에는 주 예수님이 창세 전에 나셨습니다. 만일 그리스도께서 창세 전에 죽임을 당하였다면 틀림없이 그 이전에 태어나신 것입니다. 따라서 영원 가운데 있는 하나님의 투시도에 의하면, 그리스도는 영원 전에 나셨습니다. 이런 의미에서 그리스도는 하나님의 관점에 따라 항상 모든 피조물의 첫째이신 것입니다. Christ Becoming the Firstborn of All Creation

Some may wonder how Christ could be the firstborn of all creation since He was born less than two thousand years ago, not at the very beginning of creation. If we would understand this properly, we need to realize that with God there is no time element. For example, according to our estimate of time, Christ was crucified about two thousand years ago. But Revelation 13:8 says that Christ was slain from the foundation of the world. Both are right. However, God's reckoning is much more important than ours. In the eyes of God, Christ was crucified from the foundation of the world. In eternity, God foresaw the fall of man. Therefore, also in eternity, He made preparation for the accomplishment of redemption. According to our sense of time, Christ was born in Bethlehem approximately two thousand years ago. But in the eyes of God, the Lord Jesus was born before the foundation of the world. If He was slain from the foundation of the world, certainly He must have been born before then. Therefore, according to God's perspective in eternity, Christ was born in eternity past. This is the reason that, according to God's viewpoint, Christ has always been the first of all creatures. God foresaw the day that Christ would be born in a manger in Bethlehem. Because Christ is the first among the creatures, we can say that as the all-inclusive One He is both the Creator and part of creation.
