모든 피조물 중의 으뜸이신 그리스도

성경말씀

(골1:15~17) 이 아들은 보이지 않는 하나님의 형상이시며, 모든 창조물 가운데 가장 먼저 나신 분이십니다. 왜냐하면 만물, 곧 하늘들에 있는 것들과 땅에 있는 것들, 보이는 것들과 보이지 않는 것들, 보좌들이나 지배 권위들이나 통치자들이나 권세자들이 다 그분 안에서 창조되었으며, 또한 만물이 그분을 통하여, 그리고 그분을 위하여 창조되었기 때문입니다. 그분은 만물보다 먼저 계시고, 만물은 그분 안에 연결되어 존재합니다.

오늘의 만나

골로새서 1장 15절에서는 그리스도를 '보이지 않는 하나님의 형상'이라 말합니다. 그 다음의 같은 구절에서 바울은 그리스도를 '모든 창조물 가운데 가장 먼저 나신 분'이라고 말합니다. 바울이 보이지 아니하시는 하나님의 형상과 모든 창조물가운데 가장 먼저 나신 분, 이 둘을 함께 둔 이유는 무엇일까요? 모든 것을 포함하신 그리스도를 하나님의 형상이라고 말함은, 그분이 바로 하나님이요 창조자이심을 뜻합니다. 우리가 그리스도를 볼 때 보이지 아니하시는 하나님의 나타남을 보는 것은 그분 자신이 하나님이시기 때문입니다. 바울은 계속해서 그리스도께서 모든 창조물 중에 먼저 나신 분이라고 말합니다. 이 말은 피조물에서 그리스도가 첫 번째임을 뜻합니다. 하나님이신 그리스도는 창조자이십니다. 그러나 혈육에 속하신, 사람 되신 그분은 피조물의 일부분입니다. '모든 창조물가운데 가장 먼저 나신 분'이라는 말은 그리스도가 모든 피조물 가운데 뛰어난 분이심을 가리킵니다. 골로새서 1장 15절로부터 18절까지에서 사도 바울은, 그리스도가 만유 가운데서 으뜸 되심을 강조합니다. 이 구절들은 그리스도가 창조자이실 뿐 아니라, 모든 피조물 가운데서 으뜸되심을 계시합니다. 성경에서는 그리스도가 하나님도 되시고 사람도 되시기 때문에 그리스도는 창조자이며, 피조물이십니다. 하나님으로서 그리스도는 창조주이시나, 사람으로서 그분은 피조물이십니다. And He is before all things, and all things cohere in Him.

Words of Ministry

Colossians 1:15 says that Christ is the “image of the invisible God.” Then, in the very same verse, Paul says that Christ is the “firstborn of all creation.” Why does he put these two matters together, the image of the invisible God and the firstborn of all creation? To say that Christ, the all- inclusive One, is the image of God implies that He is the very God, the Creator. When we see Christ, we see the expression of the invisible God, for He Himself is God. Paul goes on to say that Christ is the firstborn of all creation. This means that in creation Christ is the first. Christ as God is the Creator. However, as man, sharing the created blood and flesh (Heb. 2:14), He is part of the creation. “Firstborn of all creation” refers to Christ's pre- eminence in all creation, since from this verse through verse 18 the apostle stresses the first place of Christ in all things. This verse reveals that Christ is not only the Creator, but also the first among all created things, the first among all creatures. The Bible reveals that Christ is both the Creator and a creature, for He is both God and man. As God, Christ is the Creator, but as man, He is a creature.
