| 나는 골로새서의 저자인 바울의 솜씨의 진가를 존중합니다. 그는 한면으로는 그리스도의 평강을 강조하고, 다른 한면으로는 그리스도의 말씀을 강조합니다. 우리 중 몇몇은 우리의 영이 살아 있는 한 모든 것이 옳다고 생각할지도 모릅니다. 아마 당신은 그리스도의 평강이 당신의 속을 중재하고, 그리스도의 말씀이 당신의 마음 안에 거처를 정하시는 것이 필요하다는 것을 깨닫지 못했을 것입니다. 만일 우리가 그리스도의 평강이 우리 안에서 일하도록 하고, 그리스도의 말씀이 우리 안에 거하도록 한다면, 우리는 합당한 그리스도인이 될 것입니다. 우리의 선호 대신에 우리는 그리스도의 중재를 가질 것입니다. 우리의 의견, 관념, 사상, 평가 대신에 우리는 그리스도의 말씀을 가질 것입니다. 어떤 성도들은 성경을 사랑하고 매일 읽습니다. 그러나 그들의 생활 속에서 그들 안에서 움직이는 것은 그리스도의 말씀이 아닌 그들의 관념, 의견, 철학입니다. 그들은 성경을 연구할지 모르나 그리스도의 말씀이 그들 안에 거하도록 허락하지 않습니다. 그들은 그리스도의 말씀이 그들 안에 움직이고, 행하고, 존재하도록 허락하지 않습니다. 당연히 그들 안에 우세한 것은 그리스도의 말씀이 아닌 그들의 철학입니다. 비록 그들이 성경을 읽지만 하나님의 말씀은 그들 밖에 있습니다. 그리스도의 말씀이 우리 안에 들어오고, 우리 안에 거하고, 우리의 관념, 의견, 철학을 대체하도록 하는 것은 정말 중요합니다. 가르침, 권면, 찬송은 모두 '거하다'라는 동사와 관련됩니다. 이것은 그리스도의 말씀이 우리 안에 풍성히 거하게 하는 길이 가르침과 권면과 찬송에 의한 것임을 가리킵니다.

| I appreciate Paul's skill as a writer. He emphasizes, on the one hand, the peace of Christ and, on the other hand, the word of Christ. Some of us may think that as long as our spirit is living, everything is all right. Perhaps you have not realized the need for the peace of Christ to arbitrate within you and for the word of Christ to make home in your heart. If we let the peace of Christ work in us and the word of Christ dwell in us, we shall be proper Christians. Instead of our preference, we shall have Christ's arbitration. Instead of our opinion, concept, thought, and estimation, we shall have Christ's word. Certain saints love the Bible and read it daily. But in their living it is their concept, opinion, and philosophy that move within them, not the word of Christ. They may study the Bible, but they do not allow the word of Christ to dwell in them. Neither do they permit it to move, act, and have its being in them. As a result, what prevails in their being is their philosophy, not the word of Christ. Although they read the Bible, God's word remains outside of them. It is crucial for us to let the word of Christ enter into us, dwell in us, and replace our concepts, opinions, and philosophies. Teaching, admonishing, and singing are all related to the verb dwell. This indicates that the way to let the Lord's word dwell in us richly is by teaching, admonishing, and singing.
