어떤 종교적인 교사들은 신약 안에 있는 계시를 체계화하려고 시도합니다. 그러한 체계적인 가르침의 영향 아래서 어떤이들은 그리스도는 삼층천에 계시기 때문에 다른 어느 곳에도 계실 수 없으며 특히 우리 안에 계실 수 없다고 생각합니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 성경은 그리스도께서 삼층천에도 계시고 우리 안에도 계신다고 말하고 있습니다. 더 나아가 그리스도께서는 우리 안에 계시지만 또 그분은 우리에게 오시고 계십니다. 이것은 그분이 지금 여기에도 계시며 또한 오시고 계시다는 의미입니다. 나는 이것을 일치시킬 수 없습니다. 신약은 양면을 다 계시하고 있기 때문에 단순히 그 양면을 다 믿습니다. 많은 믿는이들이 갖고 있는 문제는 주님의 재림에 관한 주관적인 면을 무시하고, 객관적인 면에 관해서만 종교적으로 교리가 주입되었다는 것입니다. 그들은 하늘에 계신 그리스도께 온통 주의를 기울이며 그분의 재림을 굳게 믿고 있습니다. 그러나 그들은 내주하는 그리스도에 대한 사실은 소홀히 하며, 아마 그리스도가 지금 그들 안에 계시는 것조차 모르는 것 같습니다. 우리는 하늘로부터 그리스도의 재림을 기다리면서 내적으로도 그분을 누릴 필요가 있습니다. 주 예수님은 "보아라, 내가 문 밖에 서서, 문을 두드린다. 누구든지 나의 음성을 듣고 문을 열면, 내가 그에게 들어가 그와 함께 먹고, 그는 나와 함께 먹을 것이다(계3:20)"고 말씀하셨습니다. 여기에서 주님의 말씀은 그분이 이미 그곳에 계신다는 것을 가리킵니다. 살아계시고 주관적이며 내주하시는 그 그리스도를 체험하는 것이 얼마나 필요한지요! 나의 부담은 주님의 백성들에게 그러한 그리스도를 공급하는 것입니다. 만일 우리가 살아계시는 그리스도에 대한 직접적이고 소중하며 친근한 누림을 갖지 못한다면 올바르게 성경 해석하는 방법을 아는 것이 무슨 소용이 있겠습니까?

  Certain religious teachers attempt to systematize the revelation in the New Testament. Under the influence of such systematic teachings, some suppose that since Christ is in the third heaven He cannot be elsewhere, particularly not in us. Nevertheless, the Bible says that Christ is both in the third heaven and in us as well. Furthermore, although Christ is in us already, He is coming. This means that He is both here now and He is coming. I cannot reconcile this. I simply believe both aspects because the New Testament reveals both. The problem many believers have is that they have been religiously indoctrinated regarding the objective aspect of the Lord's coming, to the neglect of the subjective aspect. They pay their full attention to the Christ in heaven and firmly believe in His coming back. However, they neglect the fact of the indwelling Christ, perhaps not even realizing that Christ is now within them. As we are awaiting Christ's coming back from the heavens, we need to enjoy Him inwardly. The Lord Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me” (Rev. 3:20). The Lord's word here indicates that He is here already. How we need to experience the living, subjective, indwelling Christ! My burden is to minister such a Christ to the Lord's people. What is the use of knowing how to rightly interpret the Bible if we do not have a direct, precious, and intimate enjoyment of the living Christ?
