그리스도가 교회를 돌보시는 데에는 두 방면이 있습니다. 내적인 방면은 목양하는 것이고 외적인 방면은 소중히 품는 것입니다. 목양받는 것은 내적으로 어떤 것이 우리 속에 분배되는 것인 반면, 소중히 품는 것은 외적으로 따스하고 안온하게 되는 것입니다. 오늘날 우리가 그리스도로 목양받으려면 생명과 생명공급으로서 그분을 우리 존재 안으로 흡수하기 위해 그분 안에 거해야 합니다. 이것을 실제적인 방법으로 체험하기 위해 우리는 매일 살아있는 말씀을 접촉해야 하는데 그것은 말씀이 생명과 생명공급의 체현이기 때문입니다. 우리가 주님 안에 더 거할수록, 말씀을 더 접촉할수록 우리는 그분의 목양하심을 더 체험하게 됩니다. 이것이 그리스도께서 교회를 목양하시는 방법입니다. 교회의 모든 지체들은 주님 안에 거하는 것을 실행해야 합니다. 주님과 우리 사이에 어떤 격리되는 것이나 분리되는 것이나 고립되는 것이 있으면 안됩니다. 우리가 그분으로부터 떨어질 때 양육하는 공급이 끊깁니다. 항상 주님 안에 거하는 것과 더불어 반드시 우리는 매일 말씀을 대하고 그것을 우리의 생명과 생명공급으로 섭취해야 합니다. 그러면 우리는 자양분을 받게 될 것입니다. 더 나아가 모든 교회 집회들은 목양하는 집회가 되어야 합니다. 새벽집회(아침부흥)와 성도들간의 교통 역시 목양하는 시간이 되어야 합니다.

  Christ's care of the church has two aspects. The inner aspect is the nourishing, and the outer aspect is the cherishing. To be nourished is to have something imparted into us inwardly, whereas to be cherished is to be warmed and comforted outwardly. If we would be nourished by Christ today, we need to abide in Him to absorb His content into our being as life and the life supply. In order to experience this in a practical way, we daily need to contact the living Word, for the Word is the embodiment of life and of the life supply. The more we abide in the Lord and contact the Word, the more we experience His nourishing. This is the way Christ nourishes the church. All the members of the church need to practice abiding in the Lord. There should be no insulation, no separation, between us and the Lord and no detachment from Him. As soon as we are detached from Him, the supply of nourishment is cut off. Along with abiding in the Lord constantly, we must daily come to the Word and take it in as our life and life supply. Then we shall receive nourishment. Furthermore, all the meetings of the church should be meetings of nourishment. Morning watch [devotion time] and our fellowship with the saints should also be times of nourishment.
