그리스도는 우리에게 생명이실 뿐 아니라 본이십니다. 우리는 우리의 천연적인 생명이 아닌 우리의 생명이신 그분에 의해서, 그분의 본을 따라, 그분에게서 배웠습니다(마11:29). 신약에 의하면 주 예수님은 우리에게 생명으로 직접 오시지 않았습니다. 오히려 이 땅에서 삼십년을 사신 후 그분은 삼년 반 동안을 사역하셨습니다. 삼십삼 년 반을 이땅에서 사시는 동안 그분은 본과 모형을 세우셨습니다. 사복음서가 쓰여진 이유 중 하나는 하나님이 원하시는 삶의 본, 즉 하나님을 만족시키며 그분의 목적을 완수할 수 있는 삶의 모형을 보여 주려는 것입니다. 이런 까닭에 신약은 네 방면에서 주 예수님의 전기를 보여줍니다. 주 예수님은 복음서들에 계시된 본을 세우신 후, 십자가 위에서 죽으셨고 부활 안으로 들어가셨습니다. 그분이 우리의 생명이 되시기 위해 우리 안으로 들어오신 것은 부활 안에서입니다. 예수 안에 있는 진리는 사복음서에 기록된 것처럼 예수님의 삶의 참된 상태입니다. 타락한 사람들인 이방인들의 경건하지 않은 행함 안에는 공허함이 있지만 예수님의 경건한 삶 안에는 진리, 즉 실제가 있습니다. 예수님은 항상 하나님 안에서, 하나님과 함께, 하나님을 위하여 일을 하셨습니다. 하나님은 그분의 삶 안에 계셨고 그분은 하나님과 하나였습니다. 이것이 예수 안에 있는 진리입니다. 우리 믿는이들은 우리의 생명이신 그리스도로 거듭났고 그분 안에서 가르침 받고, 예수 안에 있는 진리대로 그분에게서 배웠습니다.

  Christ is not only life to us, but also an example. We learn from Him (Matt. 11:29) according to His example, not by our natural life, but by Him as our life. According to the New Testament, the Lord Jesus did not come into us as life directly. During the thirty-three and half years of His life on earth, He set up a pattern, a mold, a model. One reason the four Gospels were written was to show the pattern of the life that God desires, the mold of the life that can satisfy God and fulfill His purpose. For this reason, the New Testament gives us a unique biography, the biography of the Lord Jesus, written from four directions. After the Lord Jesus set up the pattern revealed in the Gospels, He was crucified on the cross and then He entered into resurrection. It is in resurrection that He comes into us to be our life. The truth in Jesus is the real situation of the life of Jesus as recorded in the four Gospels. In the godless walk of the nations, the fallen people, there is vanity. But in the godly life of Jesus there is truth, reality. Jesus lived a life always doing things in God, with God, and for God. God was in His life, and He was one with God. This is the truth in Jesus. We, the believers, regenerated with Christ as our life and taught in Him, learn from Him as the truth is in Jesus.
