어렸을 때 나는 그리스도를 따라가고 그 발자취대로 행하라는 가르침을 받았습니다. 또 그분은 하늘에 계신 주님이요 주인이시므로 그분께 경배해야 한다는 가르침도 받았습니다. 그러나 그리스도를 누릴 수 있다는 말을 들어본 적이 없습니다. 그리스도가 나의 생명 공급이라는 것, 내가 누릴 수 있는 분깃이라는 것을 배운 적이 없습니다. 우리는 구원받았을 때 그리스도의 달콤한 느낌을 맛보았습니다. 우리는 깊은 속에서 그리스도가 얼마나 누릴 만한 분인가를 깨달았습니다. 그런데 우리 중 많은 사람이 그리스도에 대한 누림에서부터 빗나가고 잘못 인도되었습니다. 우리는 내적으로 그리스도의 달콤함을 인식하는 데서부터 종교적인 의무를 행하는 데로 바뀌었습니다. 이것은 다시 우리를 어둠 안으로 이끌었으며, 내적으로 빛나는 것은 멈추어버렸습니다. 우리 중 많은 사람이 이러한 상태로 수년을 낭비했습니다. 그러나 어느 날 절망으로부터 나와 우리의 종교적인 의무를 제쳐놓고, 주님께 돌이켰고, 그분께 울부짖었습니다. 우리는 무슨 일이 우리에게 일어났는지 그분께 물었습니다. 주님께 돌이킴으로 우리는 한번 더 어둠에서 빛으로 돌이켰습니다. 그런 후 빛 안에서 우리는 다시 성도들의 분깃이신 그리스도를 누리기 시작했습니다. 하나님과 그리스도께서는 빛이십니다. 우리가 주님께 돌이키고 그분의 임재 안에 있게 되었을 때 우리는 빛 안에 있고, 자연히 그분을 우리의 분깃으로 누리기 시작하는 것입니다.

  When I was young, I was taught to follow Christ and to walk in His steps. I was also charged to worship Him as the Lord and Master in the heavens. But I was never told that I could enjoy Christ. I was not taught that Christ is my life supply and the portion for my enjoyment. When we were saved, we had a sense of the sweetness of Christ. Deep within, we realized how enjoyable Christ is. Then...many of us were distracted and led away from the enjoyment of Christ. We turned from the inner sense of the sweetness of Christ to religious duty. This brought us into darkness again, and the inward shining ceased. Many of us spent years in this condition. But one day, out of desperation, we laid aside our religious duty, turned to the Lord, and cried out to Him. We asked Him what had happened to us. By turning to the Lord, we turned once more from darkness to light. Then, in the light, we again began to enjoy Christ as the portion of the saints. The only way to partake of Christ and to enjoy Him is in the light. God and Christ are light. When we turn to the Lord and come into His presence, we are in the light and spontaneously begin to enjoy Him as our portion.
