데살로니가전서 1장 1절에서 바울이 하나님 이후에 '아버지'라는 칭호와 예수 그리스도 앞에 '주'라는 칭호를 삽입한 것은 아주 의미가 깊습니다. 하나님으로부터 혹은 예수 그리스도로부터라고 말하는 것은 충분하지 않습니다. 오히려 우리는 하나님이 우리의 아버지이고, 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 주님이라고 말할 필요가 있습니다. 만일 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 주님이 아니시라면, 우리는 실질적인 의미에 있어서 그분과 아무 상관이 없습니다. 그러나 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 주님이 되실 때, 이것은 우리가 그분 안에 있으며, 유기적으로 그분과 연결되었음을 의미합니다. 우리가 주 예수님의 이름을 부를 때 우리는 단지 "예수여!"라고 말하는 것보다, "주 예수여!"라고 말해야 합니다. "예수여, 당신을 사랑합니다."라고 말하는 대신 "주 예수여, 당신을 사랑합니다."라고 말하는 것이 더 낫습니다. 주님을 이러한 방식으로 부르는 것은 얼마나 달콤합니까! 어떤 그리스도인들은 "하나님을 찬양합니다!"라고 말하는 것을 좋아합니다. 그러나 신약에서 강조점은 하나님 아버지를 찬미하는 것에 있습니다. 오늘날 우리를 위해 하나님은 하나님 아버지이시고, 예수님은 우리의 주님이시라는 것을 깨달을 필요가 있습니다. 고린도전서 12장 3절에 따르면 우리가 "주 예수여"라고 말할 때 우리는 그 영 안에 있게 됩니다. 이것은 그 영이 주 예수님을 합당하게 부르는 것을 존중한다는 것을 의미합니다. 우리들 중 많은 사람이 우리가 "주 예수여"라고 부를 때 그 영의 내적인 기름부음을 느낀다고 간증할 수 있습니다. "아바 아버지"라고 말하는 것도 마찬가지입니다. 만일 우리가 단순히 하나님, 즉 엘로힘이라고 부르면, 우리는 기름부음이 많지 않을 것입니다. 그러나 우리가 "아바 아버지"라고 외칠 때 우리는 기름부음을 체험합니다. (발췌 : 하단 영문 참조)

It is very significant that in [1Thes] 1:1 Paul inserts the title Father after God and the title Lord before Jesus Christ. It is not sufficient to speak either of God or of Jesus Christ. Rather, we need to say that God is our Father and that Jesus Christ is our Lord. If Jesus Christ is not our Lord, then we have nothing to do with Him in a practical way. But when Jesus Christ becomes our Lord, this means that we are in Him, organically united to Him.When we call on the name of the Lord Jesus, we should not just say “Jesus”; we should say, “Lord Jesus.” Instead of saying, “Jesus, I love You,” it is better to say, “Lord Jesus, I love You.” How sweet it is to call on the Lord in this way! Some Christians like to say, “Praise God!” But in the New Testament the emphasis is on praising God the Father. We need to realize that for us today God is our Father and Jesus is our Lord. According to 1 Corinthians 12:3, when we say, “Lord Jesus,” we are in the Spirit. This indicates that the Spirit honors the proper calling on the Lord Jesus. Many of us can testify that when we call, “Lord Jesus,” we sense the anointing of the Spirit within. The same is true of saying, “Abba, Father.” If we merely call on God, Elohim, we do not have much anointing. But when we cry, “Abba, Father,” we experience the anointing.
