형제자매님들, 하나님께서는 목적을 가지고 우리를 창조하셨으며 또한 목적을 가지고 우리를 구원하셨습니다. 하나님의 의도는 우리가 하나님의 아들의 생명을 표현하고 하나님의 아들의 영광에 참여하는 것입니다. 영원과거에 하나님께서는 하나의 목적을 가지셨습니다. 하나님은 다만 독생자를 원하지 않으시고, 많은 아들들을 원하셨습니다. 그러므로 로마서 8장 29절은 '하나님께서 미리 아신 사람들을 그분의 아들과 같은 형상을 이루게 하시려고 또한 미리 정하셨습니다. 그것은 그분의 아들을 많은 형제들 가운데서 맏아들이 되게 하시려는 것입니다.'라고 말합니다. 하나님께서는 우리가 하나님의 아들의 형상과 같은 형상이 되도록 예정하셨습니다. 그리고 하나님께서는 우리를 사시고 구속하심으로 우리를 얻으셨습니다. 이것이 오늘날 우리의 궁극적인 목표입니다. 하나님께서는 영원한 목적이 있으시며, 이 목적은 그분의 아들을 통하여 성취됩니다. 하나님께서는 이 목적을 위해 그분의 아들을 통해 모든 것을 창조하셨습니다. 구속이 이 목적을 위한 것이고, 사탄의 패배도 이 목적을 위한 것이고, 죄인들의 구원도 이 목적을 위한 것입니다. 그러므로 우리가 하나님의 영원한 목적이 무엇인지를 알 때 비로소 하나님께서 이루시고자 하는 것을 우리를 통해 이룰 수 있습니다. 우리는 여기 다만 죄인들의 구원을 위해서 있지 않고, 우리는 여기에 하나님의 영원한 목적의 성취를 위해 있습니다. 만일 우리가 자신을 헌신하지 않는다면 즉 자신을 하나님께 드리지 않는다면, 우리는 이 뜻이 선하다는 것을 결코 깨닫지 못할 것입니다. 우리는 하나님의 뜻이 참으로 선하다고 노래할 수 있습니다. 우리는 하나님의 뜻이 참으로 선하다고 할렐루야를 외칠 수 있습니다! 하나님의 뜻은 악한 것이 아니라 선한 것입니다. 하나님의 뜻은 유익한 것이며 악의가 없습니다. Brothers and sisters, God created us with a purpose, and He also saved us with a purpose. God’s intention is that we express the life of His Son and partake of the glory of His Son. In eternity past God had a purpose; He did not want just an only begotten Son, but many sons. Hence, Romans 8:29 says, “Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers.” God predestinated us to be conformed to the image of His Son. Then He bought us and redeemed us so that He could gain us. This is our ultimate goal today....God has an eternal purpose, which is accomplished through His Son. God created everything through Him for this purpose. Redemption is for this purpose, the defeat of Satan is for this purpose, and the salvation of sinners is for this purpose. We have to know God’s eternal purpose before we can accomplish what God wants us to accomplish. We are not here merely for the salvation of sinners; we are here for the accomplishment of God’s eternal purpose. If we do not consecrate ourselves [i.e. give ourselves to God] , we will never realize that this will is good....We can sing about the goodness of God’s will! We can say hallelujah because of the goodness of God’s will! God’s will is good and not malicious. His will is for our profit and without malice. We are too shortsighted. God’s will is good.
