15 -로마서 9장 15-16절- 모세에게 이르시되 내가 긍휼히 여길 자를 긍휼히 여기고 불쌍히 여길 자를 불쌍히 여기리라 하셨으니 그런즉 원하는 자로 말미암음도 아니요 오직 긍휼히 여기시는 하나님으로 말미암음이니라 15

15 긍휼은 은혜보다 더 높은 것입니다. 만일 내가 여러분의 다정한 친구로서 여러분에게 갔을 때, 여러분이 나에게 성경책을 한 권 선물로 준다면 그것은 은혜입니다. 그러나 만일 내가 가련하고 더러운 거지로 스스로 아무 것도 할 수 없을 때, 여러분이 나에게 10달러를 준다면 그것은 은혜가 아니라 긍휼입니다. 그러므로 긍휼은 은혜보다 더 높은 것입니다. 은혜란 그것에 상응하는 상황에서 주어지는 것이지만, 긍휼은 그보다 훨씬 높아서 가련하고 은혜를 받을 자격이 없는 상황에 주어지는 것입니다. 15

15 우리의 타고난 상태로는 하나님과 너무 멀리 떨어져 있으므로 하나님의 은혜를 받을 수가 없습니다. 우리의 자격으로는 하나님의 긍휼밖에 받을 수 없습니다. 하나님의 긍휼은 사람의 좋은 상태가 아닌 오히려 사람의 가련한 상태에서 나타납니다. 긍휼은 은혜보다 더 큰 것입니다. 15

15 우리 모두에게 도달한 것은 하나님의 긍휼입니다. 우리 중 어느 누구도 그분의 은혜에 부응할만한 자격이 없습니다. 우리는 비참하고 가련하여 우리와 하나님 사이의 간격을 이을 하나님의 긍휼을 필요로 합니다. 우리를 그분의 은혜로 이끈 것은 하나님의 긍휼입니다. 우리가 이것을 깨닫고 그분의 긍휼로 인해 하나님을 찬양할 필요가 있습니다. 오! 우리에게는 그분의 긍휼이 얼마나 필요한지요! 우리는 그분의 은혜를 감사하는 것만큼이나 하나님의 긍휼을 귀히 여겨야 합니다. 우리로 그분의 은혜에 참여토록 자격을 주는 것은 항상 하나님의 긍휼이었습니다. 15

15 God's Mercy Reaching Us15

15 Rom 9:15 For to Moses He says, ? will have mercy on whomever 15 I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I 15 will have compassion.?(16) So then it is not of him who 15 wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.15

15 Mercy goes farther than grace. If I come to you as your dear 15 friend and you give me a Bible as a gift, that is grace. 15 However, if I am a poor unclean beggar, unable to do anything 15 for myself and you give me ten dollars, that is not grace, it 15 is mercy. Thus, mercy reaches farther than grace. Grace only 15 extends to a situation that corresponds to it, but mercy goes 15 much farther, reaching into a situation that is poor and 15 unworthy of grace.15

15 According to our natural condition, we were far removed from 15 God, totally unworthy of His grace. We were only eligible to 15 receive His mercy. God's mercy does not depend upon man's 15 good condition; rather it is shown in man's pitiful 15 condition. It reaches beyond His grace.15

15 It is God's mercy that has reached all of us. None of us was 15 in a condition that corresponded to His grace. We were so 15 poor and so pitiful that there was the need for God's mercy 15 to bridge the gap between us and God. It was God's mercy that 15 brought us into His grace. How we need to realize this and 15 worship God for His mercy! Oh, how much we need His mercy! We 15 must treasure God's mercy as much as we appreciate His grace. 15 It is always God's mercy that qualifies us to participate in 15 His grace.15 15
