15 어둠은 사망과 연결됩니다. 어둠이 있는 곳에는 사망이 있습니다. 어둠은 생명과 연결되는 빛에 반대됩니다. 사탄과 어둠과 사망은 하나님과 빛과 생명의 반대의 위치에 있습니다. 베 드로 전서 2장 9절을 볼 때, 우리는 어둠으로부터 부르심을 받아 하나님의 놀라운 빛 안으 로 옮겨졌습니다. 어둠은 사망인 사탄이며, 빛은 생명이신 하나님 자신입니다. 15

15 수년 전, 나는 흑암의 권세란 단지 도박이나 도둑질이나 간음 같은 악한 일들만을 말하는 것인 줄로 생각했습니다. 그러나 그 후에 나는 여기에서 말한 흑암의 권세란 그보다 훨씬 더 많은 것들을 포함하고 있다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 골로새서에서 말한 흑암의 권세란 악 한 일들이 아닌 종교적인 관례(골로새서 2장 16절)와 이방인의 의식과 그노시스 철학입니다. 금욕주의는 육체의 방종을 억제하기 위하여 몸을 엄격히 다루는 행위입니다. 이런 종류의 행위는 힌두교나 불교나 천주교에서 볼 수 있습니다. 그러나 금욕주의는 육체의 방종을 제 어하는 데 아무런 소용이 없습니다. 종교적인 관례나 금욕주의나 여러 가지 철학들이 나쁜 것은 아닙니다. 어떤 관례들은 구약에 있는 하나님의 명령에 근거를 두고 있습니다. 예를 들 어 먹는 것에 대한 여러 가지 규례가 그렇습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 바울은 아버지께서 우 리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내셨다고 말할 때 바로 이러한 관례와 규례와 철학과 금욕적 행 위의 흑암을 말했습니다. 그러므로 골로새서에서 바울이 이 용어를 어떻게 사용했는지를 아 는 것은 중요한 일입니다. 15

15 The Authority of Darkness Including More Than Evil Things15

15 Colossians 1:13 Who delivered us out of the authority of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
15 2:20 ...do you subject yourselves to ordinances: (23) Such things indeed have a reputation of wisdom in self-imposed worship and lowliness and severe treatment of the body, but are not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.15

15 Darkness is related to death. Where darkness is, there death is also. This darkness is opposed to light, which is related to life. Satan, darkness, and death stand in opposition to God, light, and life. According to 1 Peter 2:9, we have been called out of darkness into God's marvelous light. Darkness is Satan as death, but light is God Himself as life.15

15 Years ago, I thought that the authority of darkness referred only to evil things such as gambling, stealing, and fornication. Later I realized that the authority of darkness here includes a great deal more than this. In the book of Colossians the authority of darkness refers not to evil things, but to religious observances [2:16], Gentile ordinances, and Gnostic philosophy. Asceticism denotes the practice of treating the body severely in order to bridle the indulgence of the flesh. This kind of practice is found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Catholicism. Asceticism is of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. Religious observances, asceticism, and philosophies are not evil. Some observances are even based on God's commandments in the Old Testament; for example, the regulations concerning eating. Nevertheless, when Paul says that the Father has delivered us out of the authority of darkness, he means the darkness of these very observances, ordinances, philosophies, and ascetic practices. Therefore, it is crucial that we understand Paul's use of this term in the book of Colossians. 15
