15 -마태복음 26장 73-75절- 조금 후에 곁에 섰던 사람들이 나아와 베드로에게 이르되 너도 진실로 그 당이라 네 말소리가 너를 표명한다 하거늘 저가 저주하며 맹세하여 가로되 내가 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하니 닭이 곧 울더라 이에 베드로가 예수의 말씀에 닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를 부인하리라 하심이 생각나서 밖에 나가서 심히 통곡하니라 15

15 첫 번째 부인에서 베드로는 단지 말만 했습니다. 두 번째 부인에서 베드로는 맹세를 했습니다. 세 번째 부인에서 베드로는 저주하며 맹세했습니다. 세 번 주님을 부인한 후에 닭이 우는 소리를 듣고, 베드로는 주님의 말씀을 기억하고는 울며 나갔습니다(75절). 주님이 악하고 불의한 심판으로 고통받고 계실 때, 베드로는 그분을 부인했습니다. 그분을 부인함으로 베드로는 철저히 드러났습니다. 15

15 우리는 이것을 단지 베드로에 관한 일화로 읽어서는 안됩니다. 왜냐하면, 이것은 우리의 천연적인 생명으로 왕국에 들어가는 것을 불가능하다는 것을 보여주기 때문입니다. 우리는 모두 베드로와 같기 때문에, 우리는 천연적인 생명으로 왕국으로 가는 길을 따라가려고 해서는 안됩니다. 우리를 완전히 드러내는 시험이 올 것입니다. 조만간에 왕국으로 가는 길에 있는 우리 모두는 같은 시험을 맞이하게 될 것입니다. 주님의 용서와 더 전진된 문안으로 이끄는 회개와 우는 것과 자백이라는 길이 있음을 인해 주님을 찬양합니다. 왕국을 위해 우리는 또 다른 생명이 있어야 하며, 또 다른 사람이 되어야 합니다. 우리가 모든 시험을 통과하고 모든 패배와 실패로 고통받은 후에야, 우리는 또 다른 생명의 필요성을 느끼게 될 것입니다. 이 장에 나타난 강한 대조를 인해 주님을 찬양합니다. 오직 한 사람, 예수님 만이 승리하실 수 있습니다. 진실로 예수의 생명만이 왕국에 적합합니다.15

15 Being Impossible for Our Natural Life to Enter the Kingdom15

15 Matthew 26:63 ...And the high priest said to Him, I charge You to swear by the living God to tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God. (64) Jesus said to him...From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven (73) And after a little while those who were standing there came to Peter and said, Surely you also are one of them... (74) Then he began to curse and to swear: I do not know the man! And immediately a rooster crowed. (75) And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times. And he went out and wept bitterly. 15

15 In his first denial, Peter said only the word; in his second denial, he replied with an oath; and in his third denial, he cursed and swore. After denying the Lord the third time and hearing the cock crow, Peter remembered the word of the Lord, and he went out and wept bitterly (v. 75). As the Lord was suffering an evil and unjust judgment, Peter denied Him. By denying Him, Peter was exposed to the uttermost.15

15 We should not read this account merely as a story about Peter, for it reveals that it is impossible for our natural life to enter into the kingdom. Because we all are the same as Peter, we should not try to follow the pathway into the kingdom by our natural life. No matter what kind of mind or will we may have, we cannot succeed. The test will come that will fully expose us. Sooner or later, all of us on the pathway to the kingdom will face the same tests. Praise the Lord that there is still the way of repentance, weeping, and confessing that brings in the Lord's forgiveness and His further visitation. For the kingdom, we must have another life and be another person. Only after we have passed through all the tests and have suffered all the defeats and failures, we will realize our need for another life. Praise the Lord for the strong contrast presented in this chapter! Only one man, Jesus, was victorious. Truly, only the life of Jesus is good for the kingdom.15
