15 야곱과 에서는 (이삭과 이스마엘) 보다는 가까왔는데, 그들은 쌍둥이었습니다. 야곱은 빼앗15 는 자를 의미합니다. 그는 다른 이들의 지위를 빼앗았으며, 그들을 자기 아래 두고 그들 위15 로 올라갔습니다. 그와 그의 형 에서가 모태로부터 나올 때 야곱은 에서의 발꿈치를 잡았습15 니다. 야곱이라는 이름의 의미는 발꿈치를 잡는 자, 빼앗는 자입니다. 다른 이들을 넘어뜨리15 라. 어떤 속임수로든 그들을 네 발 아래 두어라. 이것이 야곱입니다.15

15 Seeing God's Selection15

15 Romans 9:11 Though the children had not yet been born nor had done anything good or 15 bad (that the purpose of God according to selection might remain, not of works but of 15 Him who calls); (13) As it is written, “Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”15

15 Jacob and Esau were more intimate [than were Isaac and Ishmael]; they were twins. 15 Jacob means a superseder. He supersedes others, puts them under him, and climbs 15 above them. When he and his older brother Esau were coming out of the womb, Jacob 15 held Esau's heel. The meaning of the name Jacob is the heel-holder, the supplanter. 15 Beat others down. Put them under your feet by any deceitful means. That is Jacob. 15 15

15 Because God had already chosen Jacob, all his endeavors were in vain. Jacob needed a 15 vision. He did not need to supplant others, because God had chosen him to be number 15 one. Unfortunately, Jacob did not realize this. If he had, he never would have tried to do 15 anything. 15

15 He needed God's dealing. Hence, God raised up his brother, Esau, and then his uncle, 15 Laban, to deal with him. God even raised up four wives plus twelve male helpers and a 15 female helper. There was a great deal of suffering in the life of Jacob, but this 15 suffering came from his striving, not from God's election. The more Jacob strove, the 15 more he suffered. We may laugh at Jacob, but we are exactly the same as he. The 15 more we try to do something, the more problems we have.15
