믿음이 견고해지는 방법은 감사가 넘쳐나게 하는 것입니다. 우리가 주님과 정상적이고 그분의 교통 안에 있을 때, 우리는 감사함으로 충만합니다. 그러나 우리가 주님에 대해 합당하지 않을 때에는 감사할 수 없습니다. 우리가 주님과 좋은 교통을 가지고 있다고 외칠지라도 그분께 감사할 수 없다면 우리의 외침은 거짓된 것입니다. 골로새서 2장 7절에 의하면 '감사가 넘쳐나게 하는 것'은 '믿음이 견고해지는 것'과 관련되어 있습니다. 이것은 우리가 믿음이 견고해지는가 아닌가는 우리가 감사가 넘쳐나는가 아닌가에 달려 있음을 가리킵니다. 우리가 주님과의 교통 가운데서 어떤 것을 한다면 우리는 감사함으로 충만될 것입니다. 그러나 주님을 떠나 어떤 것을 한다면 우리는 감사할 수 없을 것입니다. 예를 들어 여러분은 어떤 세상적인 오락에 참여할 때 주님께 감사할 수 있습니까? 여러분은 행복하다고 말할지 모르나 진심으로 주님께 감사할 수 없습니다. 때때로 우리는 어떤 것에 대해 주님께 감사할 수 있는 것 같지만, 잠시 후에 우리는 우리가 감사를 드린 그 일에 대해 회개를 할지도 모릅니다. 우리는 자신을 속여서는 안됩니다. 대신에 우리는 넘치는 감사를 드릴 수 있는지를 점검해 보아야 합니다. 이렇게 한다면 우리는 그 믿음이 견고해질 것입니다. 

Bible Verses

The way to be established in the faith is by abounding in thanksgiving. When we are right with the Lord and in fellowship with Him, we are filled with thanksgiving. But when we are not right with the Lord, we are not able to give thanks. If we claim to have good fellowship with the Lord but cannot render thanks to Him, then our claim is false. According to this verse, the words “abounding in thanksgiving” are related to “being established in the faith.” This indicates that whether or not we have been established in the faith depends on whether or not we are abounding in thanksgiving. If we do a certain thing in fellowship with the Lord, we shall be filled with thanksgiving. However, if we do anything that is apart from Him, we shall not be able to give thanks. For example, are you able to thank the Lord when you participate in a particular form of worldly entertainment? You may claim to be happy, but you cannot honestly thank the Lord. Sometimes it seems that we can thank the Lord for a certain thing, but after a little while we repent of the very thing for which we have given thanks. We must not deceive ourselves. Instead, we should check if we are abounding in thanksgiving. If we are, then we are being established in the faith.
